After being held without an interception for the first time in his career in 2023, DB Minkah Fitzpatrick is expected to be used this season in a way that better suits his strengths, according to defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. Fitzpatrick lined up at free safety for 76% of his defensive snaps in 2022, when he had a career-high six interceptions, but was used at the position for only 51% of his snaps in 2023, due to injuries and suspensions to teammates. As a result, he spent nearly 30% of his snaps last season lined up in the box and played 16% of his snaps in the slot, compared to 8% in 2022.
