San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) is not expected to start in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, Oct. 2. QB Mac Jones apparently let the cat out of the bag Tuesday when discussing the Rams’ defense. ‘I’ve been impressed with them,’ Jones said. ‘I can’t wait to go against them.’ Purdy didn’t practice Tuesday after aggravating his toe injury in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and head coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy isn’t making much progress in his recovery.
