San Francisco 49ers released WR Russell Gage Jr. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from the 53-man roster, but the team plans to sign him to the practice squad if he does not sign elsewhere. He could still be elevated to the active roster for the Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks as long as he doesn’t go to another organization.
