DFS Marlin’s Catch of the Week: NFL DFS & Betting Selections Week 18
Wow! Just like that, and we are on to the last week of the regular season, putting a wrap on full NFL DFS slates this week. Last week, we marginally improved from the week prior, hitting at a 62% clip (18/29), and I’m making a concentrated effort to land a final week above 65% to close out the year. Week 18 is always a bit of a different game as we need to be ready to navigate through teams’ playoff scenarios, potential rest situations, and, of course, player incentives. I’ve had some big hits in past years on the final week of the season, knowing how crafty we can get with some of the storylines, so let’s dive in on the final full slate of the year! The goal of this article is to provide some insight and transparency into my DFS & betting process and approach leading up to an NFL slate, along with picks and plays that I’ve landed on for this week in result. Generally, my goal for the season is to provide DFS plays that hit at a 65-70% clip, and we are just about doing that. Any given week, the approach and strategy may adjust, depending on what the slate looks like and how I want to attack it. DFS Marlin’s Catch of the Week: NFL DFS & Betting Selections Week 17
Last week was another slow DFS week as we approach closing out the regular season, and this article went just 18/32, hitting at just a 56% clip, but still solidifying our season average hit rate at about 64%. The cover player hit with an end-of-game TD; however, it was a struggle for Gibbs to get there, as the Lions’ season started to unravel, and he only made up fantasy value for his role in the passing game. Overall, cover players are now 10/16 on the year, bringing us to a similar average at 63%. Overall, not the best week, but according to my tracking, we are still due for a big week, and this is the time of the year we normally start to catch fire, so let’s get after it! Holiday football season continues with three games that occurred in Week 17 on Christmas Day and another two games on Saturday, resulting in some of my favorite slates knowing they will be a bit smaller, and also presenting us with news-based opportunities, including but not limited to playoff implications, contract incentives, injury replacements, etc. The goal of this article is to provide some insight and transparency into my DFS & betting process and approach leading up to an NFL slate, along with picks and plays that I’ve landed on for this week in result. Generally, my goal for the season is to provide DFS plays that hit at a 65-70% clip, and we are just about doing that. DFS Marlin’s Catch of the Week: NFL DFS & Betting Selections Week 16
Last week was bizarre in DFS, and although I personally felt good about the outcomes and even reflecting overall had a good feel for results, I just missed cashing on a flurry of contests. This article went 14/25 (56%), which is below our season average and brings the season average down to just 65%, as well. Henry was the article cover player, and although the outcome and even success were predicted correctly, the DFS numbers just weren’t there, given how that game went, as he went for just 13/100 but didn’t fall in the end zone, dropping our cover player selection down to 9/15 (60%). From a betting perspective, my official bets broke even, and smart bettors had a slight loss on the week. DFS Marlin’s Catch of the Week: NFL DFS & Betting Selections Week 15
Last week, this article continued to crush from a betting perspective, and although it did not hit at our normal season average from a DFS perspective at 65-70%, it improved a lot from last week and came in at 60% (18/30). We did not hit on our cover player article, dropping that hit rate down to 9/14 (64%). However, I did go on Armando Marsals’ livestream last Sunday, and beat the chest on plays listed in this article like DK Metcalf and Puka Nacua, and both of those plays came up big. It’s a good reminder that confidence levels in certain players can strengthen or weaken the closer and closer we get to lock, and it doesn’t hurt to get the most up-to-date opinion on any of these plays in the Discord as we approach lock. This is the last week before we start to see Saturday games in the NFL and the holidays hit, so we basically have the last normal slate of the season, with 13 total games, including five games in the afternoon and eight games on the early slate.
