New York Jets C Josh Myers and C Joe Tippmann will be a ‘legitimate competition for the starting center job,’ according to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, who notes that Tippmann was a draft pick from the previous head coach/general manager, and that Myers has more experience with 56 starts to Tippmann’s 31, not all of which came at center. In addition, Rosenblatt mentions that Myers played with new QB Justin Fields at Ohio State, so the newcomer is ‘getting a real shot’ despite signing a modest one-year contract.
